This fund operates in accordance with the Law on Compulsory Motor Liability Insurance, acting as a protective and solidarity mechanism for citizens.</p> <h3><strong>When the Compensation Fund is Activated</strong></h3> <p>The fund is activated in the following situations:</p> <ul> <li> <p>When damage is caused by a motor vehicle that <strong>is not insured</strong> with a valid compulsory insurance policy.</p> </li> <li> <p>When the motor vehicle that caused the accident <strong>is unknown</strong> (in hit-and-run cases).</p> </li> <li> <p>When the insurance company is in <strong>liquidation or bankruptcy</strong> and is unable to fulfill its obligations to the injured parties.</p> </li> <li> <p>In other cases provided by law, where the injured party cannot receive compensation through their insurer.</p> </li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h3><strong>Funding of the Fund</strong></h3> <p>The Compensation Fund is financed by <strong>mandatory contributions from insurance companies</strong> that operate in the compulsory motor liability insurance sector.
